Program Manager II, Software Development, Google Payments

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience in software development lifecycle, product development processes, and project management methodologies.
  • Experience managing and delivering cross-functional technical programs from initiation through launch.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with data-driven decision-making, using metrics and analytics to measure program success and identify risks.
  • Experience working on large-scale fraud and risk management solutions, particularly in the FinTech or payments industry.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with distributed Engineering, Product Management, UX, Research, Legal, Compliance, and Business Development teams.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in applying AI/ML tools and methodologies to enhance program management practices (e.g., automating reporting, risk analysis, process optimization).
  • Good understanding of the payments ecosystem.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $132000 - $190000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Define, plan, and drive the execution of large engineering programs, guiding projects from initial concepts through design, build, test, and global launch critical to payment risk strategic goals.
  • Identify critical dependencies and risks across engineering teams, product teams and other cross functional partners, developing and communicating mitigation strategies to maintain delivery predictability.
  • Be the central communication hub, orchestrating efforts and ensuring consistent understanding between cross-functional teams like product management, engineering, UX and various product stakeholder teams.
  • Evaluate and improve our delivery processes and overall development lifecycle to increase team efficiency and the quality of launches.
  • Participate in and drive planning across the team as part of upstream annual and bi-annual planning cycles.
